“High and Seek”

The ConVal Substance Abuse Task Force, in conjunction with Monadnock Voices for Prevention, Be The Change Task Force at Monadnock Community Hospital, and Safe Surroundings NE, LLC, will host “High and Seek: Defend Our Youth, Empower Our Parents and Educate Our Educators. Early Detection of Teen Use” on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, from 6-8 pm at ConVal High School.
High and Seek is the first program to be launched by Safe Surroundings NE, LLC. The mission is to increase awareness, promote early detection and early intervention of teenage alcohol and drug use. The highlight of this presentation is the staged teenage bedroom. Attendees are encouraged to explore and interact with the display. Through out the exhibit are over 70 items that may indicate a teen is involved in high risk behavior such as underage drinking and substance abuse. Attendees get an up close look at the items in the room and are shown how they can be used. The presentation reviews the latest drug and alcohol trends, an overview of slang terms, psycho-education surrounding addiction and includes an imperative discussion on techniques for effectively communicating with teens. Participants will be enlightened, educated and empowered.
This is a free, interactive presentation for adults (21+) about the early detection of teen substance use. All parents, teachers, staff, and community members are encouraged to attend.
